In celebration of the spirit of Indo-French ties, DPS Maruti Kunj organized a mega cultural event held on 19th July, 2016 at DPS Maruti Kunj, on the occasion of “Bastille Day-French National Day-14 July”. In her welcome speech, the Principal Mrs. Rachna Pandit, emphasized the need of being multi lingual, as learning other languages is the need of the hour for it gives the learner the ability to step inside the mind and context of the other culture.  She also highlighted the fact that a person competent in other languages can bridge the gap between cultures, contribute to international diplomacy, promote national security and world peace, and successfully engage in international trade.  The chief guest for the day Ms. Caroline Schmitt from Institut Francais de Delhi and Ambassade de France, (attaché for cooperation in French language) was extended a warm traditional Indian welcome. Students participated in an array of activities with fervour and gaiety.    Ms. Caroline Schmitt applauded the efforts of the students in showcasing an extravaganza of cross cultural depictions through recitations, music, dance, drama, fashion show, etc.  She also promoted the benefits of learning French language.  The celebration left an indelible mark in the minds of young learners who cherish the dream of becoming global citizens. The Adventure Camp to Tiger Country, Corbet

A voluminous group of 82 class XII students, along with 8 teacher escorts, enjoyed 3 nights/4 days of thrilling experience by visiting the exciting destinations of Jim Corbet Park and Nainital from 30th May to 2nd June 2016.

The group of students, which comprised of 37 girls and 45 boys, departed for their last and the most memorable trip of school life on 30th May morning, at the break of dawn. The group, through out the trip, travelled in 2x2 AC deluxe coaches and stayed in luxurious properties at both Jim Corbet and Nainital. During the first two days of the trip, the group stayed at Jim Corbet and enjoyed the much talked about ‘Jungle Safari’, treks on the hilly terrain and nail biting River crossing activities. The students were enlightened with the knowledge about wild life animals through their visit to the museum. The resort also kept the students engaged and entertained by various in-house activities like Star Gazing through telescopes, documentary movie show on Jim Corbet,  Karaoke evening and DJ.

The third and the much awaited day was the journey to the queen of hills, Nainital. The beautiful cool locale and the first glimpse of the captivating lake was enough to beat the heat of the plains. The students visited the Cave Garden and the Zoological Garden in Nainital and then enjoyed the evening by the side of the famous Naini lake, strolling and shopping on the Mall Road.

As they say, ‘Time has wings’ and how the four days came to an end, no one realized. After the fun filled trip, the students began their return journey with a heavy heart on 2nd June. The group reached the school one hour before the expected time of arrival but the parents were informed about the same well in time. The students dispersed, carrying with them a treasure of memories, which they will cherish throughout their lives.
